Best Time of Year to Visit Disney
If you’re still figuring out when you want to visit Walt Disney World, there are good parts about visiting at any time of the year. Planning a vacation around school breaks tends to be the easiest for families, but remember these will also be the busiest times of year as well.
Here are some different points to consider about visiting Disney during these months of the year.
Visiting Disney in January – Cooler temperatures and lower crowds towards the middle to end of the month. Opening of the EPCOT International Arts Festival.
Visiting Disney in February – Cooler temperatures and lower crowds during weeks that do not have a holiday.
Visiting Disney in March – Beginning of Spring Break season, temperatures begin to warm up. Middle to end of March starts to get busier. Opening of the EPCOT International Flower & Garden Festival.
Visiting Disney in April – Spring break crowds and warmer temperatures.
Visiting Disney in May – Lower crowds at the beginning of May when most schools are not out of session. Warmer but still usually pleasant temperatures. At the end of May schools in the south start being out of school for the summer, so crowds begin to pick up.
Visiting Disney in June – Hot temperatures and summer break crowds. Start planning to take a break in the middle of the day.
Visiting Disney in July – Extremely hot temperatures and summer break crowds. Plan to take a break in the middle of the day to beat the heat. Opening of the EPCOT Food & Wine Festival.
Visiting Disney in August – Extremely hot temperatures and summer break crowds. Plan to take a break in the middle of the day to beat the heat.
Visiting Disney in September – Temperatures usually stay hot, but start to decline from what they were in July and August. Crowds will begin to lower as schools go back into session if it is not a holiday weekend. Halloween season has become a popular time to visit Disney, so once the Halloween parties are in full effect regular park days may be busy.
Visiting Disney in October – Temperatures are usually still very warm at this time of year. Halloween season has become a popular time to visit Disney, so once the Halloween parties are in full effect regular park days may be busy.
Visiting Disney in November – Temperatures can still be warm but may start cooling off. Beginning of holiday decor. Crowds will be be at one of their all-time highs during Thanksgiving week. (Second to usually only holiday week in December.)
Visiting Disney in December – Temperatures will start cooling off, a sweatshirt or light jacket may be needed in the evenings. Holiday parties are in full swing and the break weeks that schools are typically out of school at the end of December will be some of the busiest weeks at Disney of the year. Plan to visit at the beginning of the month if you’re looking for lower crowds and holiday decor.
One of our favorite times of year to visit is in September and October so we can take part in the Halloween parties, followed up by the spring to go to the EPCOT International Flower and Garden Festival. However lately we have been visiting during the summer months due to it being the easiest time to get clear travel time on everyone’s schedules.
