Our family stayed at Animal Kingdom Lodge at Walt Disney World Resort for the first time in July 2018! The experience was truly unique and from the minute that our family pulled into the parking lot to go into the lobby, I could tell that it was going to be a great fit for us. Disney’s Animal Kingdom has always been one of our family’s favorite theme park, and I had been waiting for the right moment for our family to experience Animal Kingdom Lodge. On our July 2018 trip, we were planning a short visit to see Toy Story Land for the first time, but also wanted to stay at a resort that was all new to us.
The theme of Animal Kingdom Lodge feels much like Disney’s Animal Kingdom, as to be expected. There are extraordinary details every where your turn and it is a truly immersive experience. Our room was in the Jambo House area, on the seconf floor. We were close to the elevator, food, and the pool. Being able to see the animals from the balcony of your room or stepping out from the lobby to a community viewing area is one of the major perks of staying at Animal Kingdom Lodge – but there are also some less obvious ones like the great restaurants that are on the property and beautiful pool area.
There was also a number of great tucked away areas, like the kid’s play area just off of the pool.
We also really enjoyed the rooms at Jambo House, we opted for the two queen bed version. Although in the future, we may try bunk beds. The beds were comfortable and the room had plenty of space to spread out and unpack our things. The only area that was a bit tight was the bathroom, as the door swung into where the toilet area was.
I even had a matching purse for the trip! I had picked up one of the 20th Anniversary Animal Kingdom Dooney & Bourke purses to use on the trip, and it went with the room perfectly!

Overall, the experience of staying at Animal Kingdom Lodge was amazing, and one our family will definitely do again in the future! It is such a great fit for our family’s preferences, and being able to open the balcony at almost any time of day to view the animals was a wonderful treat!
We always like to mix up our trips and try new things on each trip, and we have a long list of resorts we would like to stay at that would be new to our family… but I can say with confidence – this is one Disney resort that we absolutely have another stay at in the future!
