This past weekend we had a fun movie night and snuggled up on the couch at home to watch “Phineas and Ferb The Movie: Candace Against the Universe” on Disney+! It officially is streaming on Disney+ starting on August 28th, 2020!
We pick up with characters that we know and love from the Phineas and Ferb series, including Phineas and Ferb themselves, Candace, and our family’s favorite – Perry the Platypus! Previous episodes of “Phineas and Ferb” can also be found streaming on Disney+, so these would make a great way to fill a rainy weekend with a fun Phineas and Ferb inspired movie party day!
The movie starts out right away with the kids getting into hijinks and Candace thinks she finally, just finally – may be able to show her parents what Phineas and Ferb are up to… but alas, it again doesn’t work out! She feels like maybe the whole universe is against her! After being abducted by aliens with Vanessa, the plot takes a turn and it suddenly becomes Candace Against the Universe.
As she travels through space, she finally finds a place where were she is regarded as being unique and one of a kind. Has she found where she belongs? Hilariousness ensures as her brothers head out into space, along with some familiar friends, including Dr. Doofensmirtz, and our family favorite – Agent Perry – to save Candace!
No spoilers here, but the movie got lots of belly laughs from our family and we loved the continuous humor throughout the movie! Our 10 year old Isabella got a case of the giggles throughout the movie more than once! And she loved that Isabella the character looks a little like her as well. This movie was age appropriate for both of my girls, ages 8 and 10, and our whole family enjoyed watching it. At a 90 minute run time, it was a great length for a family movie night and also keeping the kids’ attention the whole time!
The tale ends on a great note, and I won’t share any spoilers – but this is a great one that highlights the bond between siblings and how sometimes they are the ones we can count on to look out for us the most!

I will share highlights from an interview with creators and executive producers of “Phineas and Ferb” Dan Ponvenmire and Jeff “Swampy” Marsh, and voice actor Vincent Martella (“Phineas”), over in my Being Mommy with Style Facebook Group.
Getting all of the characters back together for this next installment of “Phineas and Ferb” was a great time, and was a fun storyline that kept us on our toes and laughing throughout!
