It’s the most wonderful decor time of year! And I’m looking forward to having all of the lights and glimmer of holiday items throughout our home. Thanks to Lowe’s for partnering with us to create a festive space for the holidays.

I chose this 6 foot flocked tree from Lowe’s for our living room space and I love how it fits in the space! The flocking fills up the tree nicely and I’m planning on putting silver and gold accents throughout the room.
The garland over the fireplace was also chosen to go with this tree and I will put out some silver and gold adornments around the room to finish it off. I wanted to share that you don’t have to do everything at one time. A lot of times we only share the finished off final room, but you can put your deocr out in stages and enjoy the process as you go.
Decorating for the Space
When you’re deciding which decorations to choose, I take the space that we will be using them into account first thing. We have moved a number of times and lived in a number of houses, not every decoration will work in every home.
Ceiling Height
Depending on the look you’re going for, you’ll want to know your ceiling height to decide which height tree to purchase. Typical residential homes have an 8 foot ceiling, so if you have a standard built home you’ll want to typically not go over a 6.5 to 7 foot tall tree, to make sure you leave room for decor embellishments you would like to put at the top.
In some spaces, I prefer more of a gap between the ceiling and the tree – and in other homes I’ve preferred to have a taller tree to elongate the space.
Since I was going for a cozy look in this room, I chose a shorter tree. Our home has 9 foot ceilings, which create more height in the space, and had I been wanting to create more height illusion, I would have chosen a 7.5 foot tree.
At it’s current height, there is enough space to put a large star on top of the tree and still have a gap between the star and the ceiling. If you’re wanting a shorter embellishment for the top of the tree, consider a bow or other ribbon that will be closer to the original tree height.
Ornaments for the Tree
Picking out ornaments for the tree is one of my favorite parts of the holiday season, and if you’re been watching our YouTube channel for a while, you’ll know that I typically pick a theme and pick out embellishments to match the theme.
In our movie and gaming room for example, we have a movie and gaming themed tree that features some of our favorite characters from movies and games. The kids were able to pick out their own ornaments and we actually ended up loving this tree so much – we leave it up year round!

Other themes I’ve picked throughout the years are a Gingerbread theme, Peacock theme, pink theme, purple theme, Disney theme, and more! The ideas are really endless.
Picking a theme helps your tree feel cohesive and depending on how far you want to take it, you can even get stockings and wrapping paper to compliment the tree theme you’ve chosen!
Add in Cozy Textures
You can create a comfortable and cozy space by adding in cozy textures, like a chunky knit blanket and soft pillow case covers. I love changing out our pillows and blankets to match the season!

Creating a Cozy Space
If you’re looking for some simple ideas on how to create a cozy Christmas space, read below for some of my favorite tips and tricks to warming up your house during the holiday season.
Tips for creating a cozy Christmas space:
- Use warm lighting: Soft, warm lighting can create a cozy atmosphere. You can use candles, string lights, or lamps with warm-toned bulbs to create a warm and inviting space.
- Add soft textures: Plush blankets, fluffy pillows, and cozy rugs can add warmth and comfort to your space. You can also add a soft throw to your sofa or armchair to make it more inviting.
- Incorporate natural elements: Pinecones, evergreen branches, and other natural elements can bring a touch of the outdoors inside. You can use them to create a rustic and cozy atmosphere.
- Use festive scents: Festive scents can add warmth and a festive aroma to your space. Choose scents like cinnamon, pine, or peppermint to create a cozy Christmas ambiance. I also love festive Scentsy warmers placed strategically in rooms around the house for both decor and the scent!
- Add holiday accents: Christmas accents can add a festive touch to your space. You can use nutcrackers, Christmas artwork, and wreaths to create a cozy and inviting atmosphere.
- Play holiday music: Soft holiday music can create a warm and cozy atmosphere. You can create a playlist of your favorite Christmas songs and play them in the background while you relax in your cozy space. My favorite is putting a YouTube ambiance video on the screen while I’m working around the house!
These ideas will help you create a warm and inviting space that is perfect for celebrating the holiday season.
Other Fun Christmas Decor
