Backstage tours are a neat way for your family to take in a whole new side of Disney Parks, exploring topics in more detail and seeing the behind the scenes abilities that make it all possible. We were able to take part in the “Behind the Seeds” tour on our recent visit to EPCOT.

Behind the Seeds Backstage Tour

This delightful tour takes you behind the scenes of the “Living with the Land” boat ride at EPCOT, sharing how they make sustainable produce to use inside Disney restaurants, grow new types of unique produce, and educates visitors on the latest in agriculture methods.

We took our 11 year old and 13 year old daughters on this tour, and they both enjoyed seeing all of the information presented, even though one is more into plants than the other. Guests should be at least 3 years old to take part in this tour, and any guest under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult that also has a ticket.

This activity seems to be best suited for upper grade school, middle school, and high school aged children. Do note that there are a number of areas that just have line barriers that children will be expected to not step over, so if you sense that may be a challenge for your child it may be best to wait until an older age to take the tour. (Even my 13 year old accidentally stepped over the line at one point during our tour while not paying attention!)

It also had plenty of ideas for experiments that kids can do at home, if they are interested in learning more through independent study on how crops grow and how to best care for them.
