As summer comes to an end, it’s time to gear up for the new school year. Back-to-school shopping can be an exciting yet overwhelming experience, especially when you’re shopping with your kids. To make your life easier, we’ve compiled a list of the most common and fun back-to-school supplies available at Amazon and Target. Here are some of our favorite back to school finds for teens, tweens, grade schoolers and little ones to take back to school this year.
Back-to-School Shopping Made Easy: Must-Have Supplies for Moms and Kids
My girls will both be in middle school this year, so the big item that we are shopping for that is NEW this year is locker supplies! They will both have their own lockers and they each have their own individual locker and organization style. One likes cute magnetic decor and pen holders, the other prefers functional locker items like shelves to keep things separated! They also both started to use these zip around binders to stay organized – which we LOVE! They also bring back the nostalgia of Trapper Keepers from my own school days.
We also have a number of basic back to school items that we typically find at Target. Items like notebooks and folders we usually get from the Target Up & Up brand, as well as the Yoobi brand for speciality items with a bit of extra character and flare. This year they had the cutest Star Wars and Grogu items as well!

For preschool aged students, the big question about Pottery Barn Kids backpacks is: Should I get the Small size? Or the Mini size? The Small size is a smaller regular backpack, with the ability to fit folders, a small binder, extra clothing, and a small personal item inside. The mini size is best suited to be used for an extra change of clothing. We used the mini size as a quick day trip “diaper bag” when the kids were younger as well! Usually when they were new to potty training and we wanted to make sure we had an extra change of clothing with us.
