This is my first time at Disneyland and the timing was perfect to stop by Disney California Adventure on opening day of the festival, which runs March 3-April 25, 2023. I had a park reservation at Disneyland in the morning and was able to maximize my time by utilizing the Genie+ service. Then in the early afternoon, I park hopped over to Disney California Adventure to spend some time there as well.
I have to say, Disney California Adventure really captured my attention on my first time there! I will do a full trip recap after our trip, but first impressions were that I was pretty amazed! I loved the Avengers Campus and spent a good amount of time in that area, the Guardians of the Galaxy: Mission Breakout ride was hilariously fun!! And Soarin’ is one of my favorite rides on the east coast, so I had to check out Soarin’ Over California while I was at the park as well.
After riding the Radiator Springs Racers in Carsland (so fun!!), I took to the food kiosks of the Disney California Adventure Food & Wine Festival to start trying out some dishes.
I will be back over the next few days and will be sure to share a round up of all of my favorite picks from the festival. There’s lots to try and many great locations that are serving up festival options. Here’s a list of all of the festival marketplaces:
- I Heart Artichokes
- LA Style
- Berry Patch
- D-LISH
- Nuts about Cheese
- Uncork California
- Golden Dreams
- Garlic Kissed
- Avocado Time
- Peppers Cali-ente
- California Craft Brew
- Cluck-A-Doodle
Each location has its own unique flavors and signature dishes. You can pick up one of these handy guides to choose which options are highest on your list to try. I find that these booklets come in super handy while you’re touring and also make great souvenirs to bring home as well.
I opted to head to Nuts About Cheese to start my taste testing, and picked the Petite Burrata, Mickey Mouse Shaped Macaron Made with SNICKERS, and Flowers & Bees cocktail as my first tasting picks! These were fantastic starters, and I have to say… I think this Mickey Mouse Macaron is going to be HARD to top! It was perfectly layered with just the right amount of chocolate, with SNICKERS, and that wonderful SNICKERS filling. If you love a SNICKERS bar, this one is going to be MUST try for you!
I also tried the Flowers & Bees since it had a hibiscus flavor in it. Gin isn’t my favorite spirit, so I’m not going to hold it against this drink, but it’s very pretty! If you like Gin, this is one that I would try for presentation alone.
The Petite Burrata was the perfect small bite with a great blend of flavors. I enjoyed the pesto on this one and it was a satisfying afternoon snack!
If you follow on Instagram during my trip, you’ll see real time updates there and be sure that you’re subscribed on YouTube to catch all of the day in the life travel vlogs from the Magical Media Retreat! I’m headed back to Disney California Adventure this weekend for a full day of tasting treats from the 2023 Food & Wine Festival and we will see which winners come out on top as my favorites!
